In June and July 2014 the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year competition returns, for the seventh year, as the North-East's biggest and longest running comedy competition.

Who will follow in the footsteps of Sam Gore, Andrew Ryan, Andy Fury, Matt Winning, David Stanier and Freddy Quinne to be named the winner of the competition?

The Final of the Hilarity Bites New Act Competition, features the four heat winners and two best runners-up all competing to be named the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year for 2014. The final will be hosted by former runner-up Ray Bradshaw and will also feature 2013 winner Freddy Quinne.

Having made his comedy debut in September 2008, Ray has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting new acts on the comedy circuit. A two time Scottish Comedian of The Year finalist, Ray has travelled the lengths and breadths of the country telling jokes to anyone that will listen, making his name as an MC for various promoters.

A regular at Hilarity Bites, Ray was runner-up in their 2009 New Act Competition and has gone from strength to strength since then, and is in demand at some of the biggest comedy clubs in the UK as well as performing alongside big names such as Kevin Bridges and Frankie Boyle.
